Indoor temperature.

During autumn and winter, there are many questions about the heat. The temperature in the apartment is experienced in different ways. Some are freezing, some think it's too hot. If the elements are cold, you may feel frozen, even if it is 21 °C in the apartment. Does it really matter if the elements in the apartment are cold if you have the right temperature inside?
Answer no, it is a sign that the thermostat is working. The essential thing is that the room temperature is about 21 °C.

What temperature should you have in the apartment?

After agreement with the tenants' association, the temperature must be around 21°C in our apartments.

If you feel that it is cold in the apartment?

Then it is desirable that you measure the temperature in the apartment yourself before reporting a fault. For an accurate temperature measurement, place a thermometer in the middle of the room and at least one meter from the outer wall.

When does Ljusdalshem turn on the heat in the houses?

We don't turn on the heat on a certain date, as in the past. Today, this happens automatically. When it gets cold outside, the heating turns on automatically. The colder it is outside, the warmer water is sent out to the elements.

Why is my element cold sometimes?

On the element is a thermostatic valve that senses the temperature in the apartment. The thermostat is the "brain" of the element. When the thermostat senses that it is about 21°C in the room, it shuts off the water flow through the element. After a while, the element cools down to the same temperature as it is in the room. This is why you can sometimes feel that the element is cold even though it is below zero outside. When the temperature in the room drops below 21°C, the thermostat opens again. In this way, an even temperature is maintained inside.

Where in the room should I measure the temperature?

To measure an accurate temperature in your room, place your thermometer in the middle of the room and at least one meter from the outer wall. If the thermometer is placed against an external wall or by a window, the temperature will be misleading, because cold walls and windows maintain a lower temperature than the rest of the room.

Do you need to ventilate the elements in the apartment?

Only if necessary. When you have carried out some plumbing work on the heat in the property, this can bring air into the apartments. The air then usually ends up in the elements in the apartments at the top of the house. You can hear it as a bubbling noise in the elements. File a bug report here if you need help with venting the elements.

A few simple rules of thumb that contribute to a better indoor climate:

  • Do not change the settings in the valves, but keep all valves clean.
  • Do not cover the elements with curtains or furniture. In that case, leave a gap of a few decimetres.
  • Do not have a TV, stereo, lights or the like near the element's thermostat.
  • If you have bookshelves, place them against the outer walls, but leave some space behind.
  • Feel free to use carpets on the floors, which make the room both homely and warmer.
  • Air the apartment regularly - it is necessary. But then open the windows wide and close after 5-10 minutes, instead of having the window constantly ajar.
  • Turn off the cooker hood as soon as you have finished cooking.
  • Do not block the supply air intake (applies to those who live in an apartment that is ventilated by supply and exhaust air).
  • Wash clean filters in the supply air intake when they start to blacken (about once a year).
  • Clean the filter in the kitchen hood regularly.
